I was born in Vi\u00f1a del Mar, Chile but have lived abroad, mostly in the United States, longer than in Chile. I have also lived in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is yet another culture that has made me who I am, which is the culture of Italy. I fell in love with things Italian when I was a little girl and my mother would tell me about the terraces of Purgatory in Dante\u2019s Divina Commedia<\/em>. As a young undergraduate, I took a Divine Comedy<\/em> course in translation at the Newberry library in Chicago and I enjoyed it so much that I embarked on learning Dante\u2019s Tuscan language, which is now part of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These experiences in various parts of the world have given me different and fresh perspectives about people’s behaviors, desires, and ways of being in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I began writing very young and completed a novel in my teens. I am very fond of it because it was completely hand written in blue ink on notebook paper. I wish I knew where it went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Karma desde el mar is my first collection of stories<\/em>, which helped me navigate the waters of literature. When I look back at the stories that I wrote, I realize that many of those writings are part of that first hand written novel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have also published my first novel, Bailemos cuando den las diez<\/em>. It took me ten years to realize that enterprise because of continuous changes to the way in which the protagonist evolved. I began it in Durham, North Carolina and I ended it in Appleton, Wisconsin. The name of the protagonist is In\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My first play, Man of La Moneda<\/em>, is available at amazon.com. A dramatic political event took place on Tuesday, 11th September 1973. Salvador Allende Gossens was overthrown by a violent coup d\u2019\u00e9tat. Allende\u2019s truncated presidency contains all the right ingredients for drama: idealism, betrayal, love, hate, joy, pain, and death. In Man of La Moneda<\/em>, there is a desire to understand my country, my peers, myself and my circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I love literature and admire all authors who commit themselves to paper.
